Just waiting to be delivered to us.....YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
You've been around MR long enough to know better than to post something like this. It's not simply 'waiting to be delivered to us'. It's the alpha version. There can be a very long wait between alpha and being 'delivered to us', not to mention mobile substrate needs to be updated to work with iOS 4.3. If it's not the whiners asking when it will be available, it's people jumping to conclusions that it's 'just waiting to be delivered to us.'

I have a 2007 Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz with a 40GB SSD that I boot snow leopard and apps from and a 160GB HDD that is in an optibay and stores my data/ holds my home folder (i.e., my superdrive is in an external enclosure).
If I want to install Lion, what is the best way for me to do this without losing my snow leopard setup? I have some 25GB left on the SSD last time I checked. Should I partition it? If I have a Mac Mini with snow leopard and all my stuff should I just install Lion clean over snow leopard on my MBP or is Lion too buggy?
Thanks.

Thanks for the side-by-side review. I use LR3, never got around to A3. Once you are used to the interface it works. At least for me.
One tip to make imports go faster is to break the import into chunks, I'm told. If you have 200 images, then pick 50 and start the import, then pick the next 50 and start the import. Supposedly you can start as many parallel import threads as you have cores for best results. I haven't needed to speed up my imports, so it's been a while since I've tried this.
Also, if your A3 and LR3 libraries were on two different HDDs you may have been seeing the difference in HDD speeds and not program processing speed. Just a thought.

I'm looking to buy a 2010 from the Refurb store tonight [early hours tomorrow] so may be able to help in a few days time if the answer is still outstanding.

I happened to have a bad processor on my Dual 2.0 G5 a while back and everytime I reviewed the crash log after a KP, it mentioned the airport and the networking family. I ran hardware test after hardware test and they came up clean. I finally brought it to an Apple store and they told me a processor must have died or the logic board was dying (after bringing it to a so-called Certfied Apple Specialist and they told me it was a software issue...but that's another story). They replaced the bad processor and all was good.
My advice - hardware issues aren't easily fixable at home, bring it to an apple store if you're still in warranty or have applecare.

I just wish it was today, since I'm going to be out all day with doctor appointments and other errands. Tomorrow I don't think there's anything to keep me away from the Internet and TV spoilers. Well, I do have several hours of downloaded TV shows to catch up on. Guess I could spend the day with Front Row. :-)

 The 17" apple studio displays I saw on line - ARE NOT AVAilable. Not at the price they were quoting. So now I have more thinking to do. There are 2 companies that claim they have them in stock but want close to $650!
I have seen quite a few on ebay in the 250 - 300 range. What do you all think of buying a monitor on ebay?

Check out the mStand (http://www.raindesigninc.com/mstand.html). It's really beautiful and matches the Alum Macbook.
I also have the mStand and it's worked great for me. my mbp is at a comfortable viewing angle and I can use it with or without my wireless mouse and keyboard. plus it is very aesthetically pleasing :) I Highly Recommend it!
ALSO, I tried the Griffin Elevator and ended up returning it the next day because my mbp was slipping off the stand when i tried to use it. just something to keep in mind.

Grrr. I should have bought the D700 when it came out. Still waiting for next gen.
Might go with D7000 and brand new DX lenses instead...
but then you might be kicking yourself you didn't wait for the update if it's announced shortly after the purchase of the d7000.
you can also check out nikonrumors.com for speculation, or bythom.com for some speculation as well (he's been at least in the ballpark).
if you're not in a rush to get the updated versions, wait it out. You'll find out whether you need the new version, or if you can get the soon to be replaced version much, much cheaper.

Well, if you don't need edit away from home the iMac would be better just cause of it's specs and screen size. The macbook air would work if you needed to edit on-the-go. Also if you have a large amount of photos/videos the iMac could hold it all. With the mba you most likely would need to bring along a portable external hdd.

You have unrealistic expectations for the price and features you want.
You'd probably have to go with a regional carrier for what you want, because national carriers aren't going to have plans you want.
AT&T charges $40/month for 450 minutes of voice and $15/month for 200MB data. I believe someone upthread gave T-Mobile's prices.
Of course, another option is pay as you go. That doesn't require unlocking if you stick with AT&T.
Basically I want an iPhone 4, but am mostly around WiFi, I'd be ok with some data, but I really don't need it. I'm looking to buy the phone upfront, and maybe $20-$40 for service afterwards, but I'm open to compromise to keep it cheaper.
As of now, I'm using an iPod touch with textfree but I need more stability.
I would like unlimited texting (sms not needed) and maybe 500-1000 minutes a month... any suggestions?
Also, I have no idea how to do a carrier unlock (or when its needed, even) but I do know how to jailbreak.
ANY advice would be appreciated!

I think only a few east coast stores ever had them, and you were required to activate in store to prevent re-selling.
Anyways, that doesn't apply at all to anyone international. eyemac, no don't worry about it :) I'd prefer to keep offers to PM just for privates sake but I will comment that I'm looking for a little more because I still lose a few dollars there, and I really don't want to lose any money. I'm seeing them go for $450-$550 on eBay so that would be optimal but I don't expect that here, of course.
Please bid if you are interested :)
They can now be purchased online as well in all parts of the country for $249 through AT&T (there's no contract when buying the phone, either), there's a thread about it in the iPhone news forum. So I think that price would be very optimistic, as anyone on here could get one for $249 and have it unlocked in twenty minutes.
Also, if it's a refurb, why does it come in the packaging for new phones? IIRC, refurb iPhones come in brown boxes...
Your best bet is ebay, especially if you want prices like that.
