I'm trying to forward requests from one port to another and running into problems.
I have a Mac Server (10.5) and a number of Mac clients. I want requests going to one of my clients for port 80 (192.168.1.20:80), to go instead to port 10080 (192.168.1.20:10080).
I've tried everything I can but I can't seem to get this to work. Here's what I've done:
I've added this to my ipfw.conf file:
add 100 fwd 192.168.1.20,80 ip from any to 192.168.1.20 dst-port 10080
But that didn't seem to work.
I also tried to add the correct info the my natd.conf.apple file.
natd.conf.apple:
interface en0
natportmap_interface en1
dynamic yes
log yes
log_denied no
deny_incoming no
use_sockets yes
same_ports yes
unregistered_only yes
reverse no
proxy_only no
clamp_mss yes
redirect_port tcp 192.168.1.20:80 192.168.1.20:10080
I stop and restart both NAT and Firewall from the Server Admin.
Only other thing I can figure is that I've got two NIC's in the server (en1 & en0) en1 is where all the clients are and the 192.168.1.xxx IP addresses. But en0 is the direct connection to the internet. So is it possible that my port forwarding is working, but on the wrong interface?
Is there something I'm doing wrong here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Wow, that is really cool. Now, if BMW but that kind of apple technology in their cars, I would buy one right away. :)

I think the opportunity to renumber was back in the 10.4 or 10.5 range. 10.6 was little more than a performance tweak. But little by little, we drift farther and farther away from that 10.0 experience. Maybe Lion, with more touchiness, will warrant a new number. But "XI" just doesn't look as cool as "X" does.
True though I thought that 10.3 should have been 11 and 10.5 should have been 12. I am glad we are drifting further from the 10.0 experience there were virtually no programs supported. I tried using 10.0 and 10.1 on my G4 but stuck with 9 until 10.2 when performance was on par and most every program was available for OS X.
Though I think we are still on OS X since Jobs said it would stay that way until 2020. He'll be damned to make it XI just to prove he was right;).

I just started to back up when I installed lion
A backup of what exactly?...
Why not use Finder to just backup all your files and folders you are interested in, then reinstall Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and then get back the files and folders you were interested in from the backup you made before you reinstalled Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard?

lol just a lil ;) But how the hell could a 3 year old understand how to play the gane? It requires quite of bit of planning and thinking to avoid going bankrupt, especially if you put it in FULL mode where you gotta buy and sell stocks...
Agreed - it's probably just the teacher in me ;)

Maybe Version 5 is better in saving the correct PAL-solution not adding pixels that are not needed, while recording.
If you've got your VCR hooked up to a DV camcorder and the DV camcorder attached to your Mac via Firewire, you can think of capturing it in iMovie as a file transfer. The camcorder is encoding the VCR's output to standard PAL DV, and your Mac is just recording that data.
If you try to do any colour correction or what have you in iMovie, a different engine in different versions might result in different quality. But these versions are so old I don't think you'll find much comparison online probably best to just suck it and see.

It's weird, My MacBook Pro now wont boot into OS X lion, before the login screen it shows the mouse for a second and now it sticks at blue. :o
=====-----=====
From http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564
(Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?)
"Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later: A Safe Boot deletes the dynamic loader shared cache at (/var/db/dyld/). A cache with issues may cause a blue screen on startup, particularly after a Software Update. Restarting normally recreates this cache."
=====-----=====
From http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455
(Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode)
"To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), do this:
1. Be sure your Mac is shut down.
2. Press the power button.
3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear)."

The quotes in the article don't even imply the guy said AMOLED screens are better, only that there is only 3-5% less visible difference (using some of that creative math since the actual difference he states is 20%) between the AMOLED screens and Apple's new screen.
Even then it conveniently ignores the fact that AMOLED screens are completely useless outside.
In any case it's a weak and completely ineffectual attempt at muckraking.

To be honest, I hate Pitchfork - they only seem to value indie music. While I love Arcade Fire and Stars, I do like to listen to slightly more mainstream music too.
It almost seems like Pitchfork will automatically rate an album between 4.8 and 6 if it's by a rock artist. I guess it's their opinion, but I'd like to see positive reviews of other music every once in a while.

If the stick physically fits, then it won't cause harm.
At best, it'll work great, running the stick out of spec.
At worst, the PC won't boot with the 'wrong' stick in there.
Most likely (all this is assuming a 'wrong' stick,) it will boot, but will boot slower than you want. For example, if it has an 866MHz processor, it might only boot at 650Mhz. (Because, for example, it uses a 133Mhz bus, and you put 100Mhz RAM in, so it would run the processor at only a 100MHz bus, dropping it's speed accordingly.)
Or, with lots of motherboards, the processor speed and RAM speed were independent, so it would run just fine, but the memory would run at the 'lowest common denominator' speed. This is especially true of newer DDR motherboards.

id much rather get a free one than pay for it, dont worry i'm not doing anything illegal so stop being nasty.
If I cheat on my significant other I'm not doing anything illegal. That doesn't mean that it's OK to do so.
I'd rather get a Mac for free too, but that doesn't mean I have so little self-respect I'd lie to get it.

i actually started off with Distributed Computing in SETI. i took some astronomy classes in college and learned about SETI, and tried it out. i then learned about folding@home later, and thought - why not join a project that actually helps people, instead of looking for other intelligence. so i joined. at first. i had trouble with the folding clients (which i still do sometimes). so i stopped after some problems. but i got a new computer, and tried again.
now i have a few computers that are pretty capable for folding

If it does what you need it to, and does it to your liking, I don't think there is any reason to upgrade.
+1. Better off waiting until 2012 for the redesign if all you do on the computer you have now is basic use.

Off topic, I thought Adobe was "teh suck" around these parts with no programming talent whatsoever?
Or does that opinion only apply to Flash?

Well it sounds like you already decided on the Nano. You can't go wrong with it, as long you don't plan on expanding your music library anytime soon.

Basically, I want to get an ibook, either refurb or used--just something cheap that will do internet (wireless), word processing, and that's about it. I have a biggger mac for storing music burning dvd's etc.
There's a nice ibook on the refurb page right now. My question: if I let this one pass will something else come up on that page pretty soon or is it a rare thing to find this kind of deal.
My reason for not buying now is because I did not plan to get something this soon, and money would be a tad bit tight to spring and get it right now. Should I spring for it now (aka credit card) or is it safe to wait for this deal to surface again?
Thanks for the reply BTW :)

How are you plugging them in? If you can get the guitar to work, every thing else should. You should plug the line out from your keyboard to the audio inputs of your tascam. For the mic, it should go into the mic in.
As for returning it, it's not a bad idea. It sounds as though you just plugged things wrong if you can get it to record your guitar. But tascam interfaces are a pain in the ass. Really, I had the L version of the interface and it wouldn't work when I wanted it to. I had to reinstall the drivers countless times, plug and unplug it, restart my computer. And apparently, I'm not the only one to get all of those problem, there's a thread about in the board. They never release new drivers and usually the updates aren't that better. I just hope I can save you the trouble.
