Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Go with every document that you think is important. Also, consult your company's lawyer.

I think it is going to be ok.

Good Luck and please share your experiences when done.

Its NATIVE INDIAN AMERICANS not 'RED INDIANS'. The term you used is considered derogatory by many.

Nope. That will be us... "Native Indian" Americans. They are "Native Americans"

    Oh.. Damn Parenthesis ....! :)

It is mentioned in my LC approval, the job code is: 15-1032 Computer Software Engineers, Systems Software

However my new job is 15-1053.00, and not 15-1032

Can this jeopardise my pending AC-21?

our friends at numbers usa have this on their homepage

New Senate GOP Immigration Package in the Offing
(March 5) At 11:30 a.m. this morning, a group of Republican senators will hold a press conference to showcase a package of 10-15 bills designed to make critical improvements to America’s immigration system.

Each bill in the package is expected to represent a specific step toward securing America’s borders; increasing enforcement at the workplace; or restoring law and order to our nation’s broken immigration system. The package is also expected to illustrate achievable, "bite-sized" steps that Congress – working in a bipartisan manner – should be able to accomplish between now and November.

Many of the ideas contained in the forthcoming bills have already passed the Senate or been voted on before, but have yet to become law.

The coalition, led by Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), will call for full Senate consideration on each of the 10-15 bills as amendments to any legislative vehicle deemed appropriate by Senate Republicans this year

OK, I've got it all figured out. (I confess, I've got nothing figured out, but it felt good to write that.)

Spent the long weekend reading up on this digital camera stuff and I've decided to go Nikon. Made this decision because I've got a relationship with their systems and some good, old glass that can still be used. Maybe not the best situation with new technology, but certainly not useless.

My quandary now is whether to go with a new D200 or a good used D70. In the past, that would have been an easy decision. When these were the tools of my trade, I was always shooting with one-generation-old technology. When everyone else was shooting with F3s, I used F2s. When the F4 came out, I snatched up a couple of discarded F3s. Made plenty of fine pictures that way.

My concern now is the pace of technology change. Digital photography is in its infancy. One reviewer's opinion is that 1 digital year is about 25 human years. So, 4-year-old digital technology is from the stone age.

Is that really true? It sounds like the D70 is a pretty good, battle-tested box which, over the last few years, has made a ton of perfectly fine images. Is it worth spending twice the money to get the newest and bestest?

One thing that caught my eye is that it sounds like the D200 is quite a bit sturdier than its older brother. I used to beat the snot out of my equipment back in the day, so that was important. Now, probably, not so much. I did read, though, that all the buttons and doors and every possible opening in the D200 is gasket sealed. I live in Seattle, so any camera I own is gonna get rained on. That's a big selling point for me.

I also read that the D200 will also work a little better with my old manual-focus lenses; mainly in the metering department. But neither will let you swap out the viewfinder glass, so I'm stuck with straight ground glass. That was never easy to focus on and my eyes aren't any younger. Guess I'll eventually be investing in at least a few AF lenses.

Tip (or rant, depending on your disposition) Of the Day
(I'm trying to give as much as I take on the board):

As far as camera metering is concerned, it doesn't interest me all that much. If you're at all serious about photography, get yourself a hand-held incident meter. I looked on Ebay yesterday and they're giving them away. You can get a Minolta Autometer IIIF for around $50 or a Flashmeter IV for less than $100. This is the most indispensable piece of equipment I own.

All camera meters are reflective. Personally, I want to know how much light is falling on the bridge of my subject's nose. Skin tones vary tremendously, so I'm not as interested in how much is bouncing back.

No matter how sophisticated a camera's metering system, it's still giving you some kind of a reflective average of some part of the scene. That's usually a good-enough approximation, but it's not exactly what you're looking for. You're better off exposing for the light coming in and letting the reflections take care of themselves. 90% of the time, there will be one part of the scene that you want to expose exactly correctly. The rest can be taken care of by looking in the viewfinder. If there are highlights that are going to blow, move your subject or yourself to an angle that either eliminates them or complements you point of emphasis. When all else fails, you can fix extremes with post-processing.

I've heard folks say that using a hand-held meter is too cumbersome. Takes too much time in fast-moving situations. I call BS. Figuring out whether to use matrix metering or center weighted or 10 or 3 or 1 degree spot or histograms or whatever, then trying to guess what the camera is thinking. That's cumbersome.

I was a photojournalist and shot more than my share of all kinds of action. I always had time to take 5 seconds to get a good incident reading. If you're indoors, walk over and take a reading by your subject. If you're outdoors, stand in light similar to your subject. (No matter how far you are from your subject you're both pretty much the same distance from the sun.)

Anyway, back to my original question. Are there any D70 users out there willing to share their thoughts on this box? Has anyone upgraded to a D200? How did it work out?

    Thanks again,
    --ken

    All,
I think we are most close to H-1B process and thus we should be one who should propose changes to H-1B program to congress so that they can make program more fair and transparent to all. I suggest the following changes. I think IV core should take this up with senator/house representative.

    H1-B improvements:

    1) Instead of visa becoming available once every year (1 October), make visa of the visa quota available every quarter and one can apply for visa in any given quarter on any day of the quarter or 10 days before the start of the quarter. Unused visas of preceding quarter are added to the next quarter.
    2) Remove lottery system of awarding visa. In stead use the following method:
    a. Until the first day of quarter, all applications for that quarter is accepted (first day of the quarter not included). Visa availability decision is made on first day of the quarter and then every first day of the week of that quarter. Let call these days visa count day (VCD).
    b. If number of application received between to consecutive visa count day or before the first VCD is less then number of available visas, all those applications are assigned available visas. Available visa count is reduced by number of applications with assigned visas.
    c. No application is accepted if it was received on or after the VCD AND it was determine on that VCD that sufficient visas are not available for applications received between preceding VCD and the current VCD (or 10 days if VCD is the start of the quarter). Call this VCD cut-off VCD and immediate week (or 10 days if this is first VCD) preceding it cut-off period (CP)
    d. The application received is CP is assigned available visa as follows:
    i. Create the pool of all the employers who have applied in CP and still have H-1B application requiring new visa.
ii. Start with an employer playing highest salary to the H-1B applicant and assigned one visa to that application. Remove this employer for the pool. Move on to next highest paying employer in the pool and assigned one visa to that application.
iii. Continue doing point two (ii) until all visas are exhausted or there are no more employers in the pool. In later case, again create employer pool as stated in point one (i) and repeat the process.
    3) Special clause for consulting position: If application for H-1B visa requires consulting work, following is required:
    a. New LCA is required every year and when consultant changes the client.
    b. New LCA must be based on the clients job and experience requirement.
    c. H-1B applicant must be paid based on LCA.
    d. If H-1B applicant can establish significant fraud/H-1B exploitation, he/she (and any dependent) is awarded EAD immediately and he/she is eligible to apply for permanent residency without employer application. Employer is no longer eligible to apply for H-1B application and is fined $1million per fraud.

Some are good ideas. Did you think of the administrative overhead? What is the need for the special clause? It is too restrictive.

I think, in long run, increasing the cap, preventing the exploitation/ fraud, faster GC process are workable solutions. I sometimes hear that some companies bring L1B holders and place them as consultants ( a clear violation of L1 visa)..That is the area lawmakers should really drill more. L1 is clearly exploited, it is used like a virtual back door with no cap limits.

I understand that IV needs the money to get things done. But money is not the only thing IV needs. It needs people to volunteer, make calls, meet lawmakers, participate in rallys, general conference calls and start motivating campaigns like the one availing FOIA. If money contributions are the only way for people to be up-to-date about status of IV activities, then what about the people who contribute in other forms?

IV may get the money needed, but at what cost?

So what do you suggest as the alternate to get the needed fund...?

Don't worry about this. My husband too got a similar RFE with regards to employment verification. Your wage being higher should not pose any problems to you. I believe this kind of RFE is more rampant now considering the economy and the recession we are in.

    Gurus / Attorney,

    Please suggest..

I got RFE for my employment verification and bona fide marital status..I have following questions..

I am still working on current position but my salary is more now compared to two years ago when I submitted my I485. Both past and current salary is more than Labor requirement. In my employment verification RFE letter, should I mention my current salary OR would it be a problem for I485 petition.

I am submitting joint tax return as a proof of bona fide marital status. My annual modified gross income is more than my current salary as a result of yearend bonus. Once again, I hope it won't create a problem for I485 application.

I would highly appreciate your any advice in this regard.

    Thanks,

    EB2 - India / PD 04/06, I485 receipt date 09/07

alright..I came back without any problem.

Immigration at POE (Dulles airport) was breeze, first officer said, "oh..you have parole letter".
he checked something in the system and asked me to go inside..

Took baggage..went into customs...where they sent me into another room.

CBP officer took the AP..felt bad that I have been waiting since 2007 for GC..in < 5 mins, stamped and said, good luck..you are done.

    Thats it.

L1A is for managers and you actually have to work atleast one year outside the US to apply for a GC (L1A - GC)

L1B is most commonly used (abused). There is no minimum required pay and has no cap. Moving from L1B to H1b is a nightmare.

I would suggest that a very slight amount of fill flash would make the eyes not be so dark. However, if you have a decent photo editing program, you could experiment with the "dodge" function to selectively lighten the eyes just enough to make them come out of the shadow, but not enough to be obvious. Also, consider attempting some "soft filter" attempts in said imaging program, to make the portrait more flattering (in other words, to subdue some facial imperfections).

I have been through a couple of acquisitions. You dont need to do anything with the h1b.

But for travel - Whenever you are travel outside US, keep a newspaper clipping of the acquisition. Also take a letter from your HR stating you have been working for Company B, which was acquired by Company A and that you continue to work with the new organization.
